David Stokes is a leading international VAT specialist with over 20 years’ experience advising businesses on complex UK and EU VAT matters. He co -founded, and was instrumental in the growth of, an international VAT practice supporting clients across multiple jurisdictions, helping businesses navigate cross-border VAT, global supply chains, and international compliance obligations.
 
A former Chartered Certified Accountant, David began his career in senior finance roles at Financial Controller and Finance Director level within the Engineering and IT sectors before specialising exclusively in VAT. This combination of senior commercial experience and deep VAT expertise enables him to deliver practical, commercially focused VAT solutions aligned with how businesses operate globally.
 
David advises on VAT relating to international trade, transaction flows, and supply chains, with particular expertise in EU VAT, e-commerce, and OSS and IOSS regimes. He also supports businesses in implementing and reviewing ERP systems to ensure VAT is embedded correctly within operational and financial processes.
